Sunday afternoon was a terrific opportunity for the kids at the local museum's 'Children's Festival'. They were able to make many old fashioned items and participate in old fashioned jobs under the instruction of local people. They made hot plates out of sticks and string (picture), washed clothes by hand (picture) made birdhouses (picture), painted\stamped a bag with potato stamps, made old fashioned rye bread (picture), made toys out of pine cones and wool, made cards with wool pin-pushed into felt, and made some beautiful paper flowers. We're bringing all of it home except the birdhouses which we will give one to my grandmother's sister and one to my grandmother's brother.

The museum itself has a windmill, an old fashioned house and barn, and the house that the Lutheran minister used to live in.
