Football in Finland

Football, which Americans call soccer, is the sport here in Finland, atleast with our cousins and their friends. Instead of playing only for a few months, they either train\practice or play games all year. We have been to 6 soccer games since we came 6 nights ago. William, 12, and Ivar, 14, are very good players but are in different age groups and some of their games overlap. So some of us have been to either William's or Ivar's games and some have been to both. And last night Isak, 7, found out his team and had their first game. He scored 3 goals and was so proud. Tonight, some of us went about 1 1\2 hours from here, Jakobstad, to see another cousin, Viktor, 16, play a game. Sunday night we all went to a Major League soccer game and it was very intense. The team, Jaro, won 5 to 1 which is the team we were cheering for. During halftime, the kids went to the concession stand and learned that not all concession stands are alike. Mostly they served grilled sausages (twice the size of a hotdog) and ice cream. The sausages are served in a wrapper with mustard and ketchup but no bread. They take all this soccer as seriously as some of us take football or baseball! In a couple of weekends, William and Ivar will both travel on an 'allstar team' for their leagues to southeastern Finland for a weekend long tournament.
